Philanthropy

We work closely with the community to promote literacy through our national Champions Are Readers program. In the CAR program, our chapter members enter 3rd grade classrooms in the area to encourage reading ability and comprehension and promote critical thinking about the literary concepts, as well as encourage a life-long love of reading.

Our chapter has also worked with Children of Promise, a local charity, to collect and distribute prom dresses at a discounted price to girls in the area who may not otherwise have the ability to attend their high school prom. We have also worked with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes in the Stetson Hills area.

Pi Beta Phi nationally supports the Arrowmont School of arts and crafts. Arrowmont began as Settlement School in rural Gatlinburg, Tennessee with the aim of bringing education and health care to the rural area. Working with the University of Tennessee, Arrowmont began a series of summer craft workshops that have been extend into year-round art education courses. Today, Arrowmont can boast of being an internationally recognized arts education facility, with renowned faculty and a diverse body of students
